Welcome to our September development update for DraeAscaria!
* This update will be less visual as the majority of the month was spent working on code and other non-flashy stuff.
So...
Let's take a look at what we've been working on this month. (Please remember that everything is a work in progress and could change before release.)
Menus
We have created and are refining all the menus in the game. The above pic shows the general aesthetic and how things are arranged, without giving all the menus away. The game day and time is in the top left, gold in the right and pop-out buttons along the left side.
Inventory Menu
The inventory menu is split between your main bag and your crafting bag. When selected, the item's border changes to an off-white color and the item's details are listed below.
Map Menu
The second menu is the map menu which displays... You guessed it... A map of the current zone and your location in it.
Character Menu
The character menu is next. It displays both your health and attack... As well as the upgrades for each. This is also where you can view key items and find equipables.
Journal Menu
The journal menu displays a list of quests/tasks, broken up into categories. Selecting the quest name shows all related details.
Spells Menu
The spells menu displays all your current spells, broken up into their different elements. Selecting a spell provides you with its details and gives you the option to equip it.
Brewing and Crafting Menus
You can interact with both the cauldron and workbench to display these menus. You are presented with a list of recipes, their descriptions and required ingredients. If you meet the requirements, you can then brew or craft the item.
Altar Menu
The Altar is where you create and upgrade your spells. Upon interacting with the Altar, you are presented with a list of spells, divided by their elements. Selecting a spell, displays its details and required items. If you meet the requirements, you can then make or upgrade that spell.
The Other Less Visual Stuff
- Coded the menus to make them usable.
- Continued to edit all the needed icons (Inventory, Gatherables, Equipables, Crafted Items, Spells, Key Items, etc.).
- Continued to update the data tables for all items.
- Continued to work on the recipes for spells and crafted items.
- Updated the interact button display.
- Coded the unlocking of new gardening plots.
- Continued to work on Main and Side Story Quests and Dialogue.
